Two pieces of late eighteenth-century Dutch penmanship, roundhand on laid paper, being verses from the Book of Joshua, signed 'S.G.W. 7 Feb 1797', strikingly laid out on the sheet (33 x 41 cm), in excellent condition, together with a text with command-of-hand ornament, 24 x 37 cm, possibly disbound from an album, right-hand edge foxed and slightly worn. Accomplished work.
